Ted Talk Sir Ken Robinson

While listening to Sir Ken Robinson: Bring on the learning revolution talk, I realized that since a very early age we are molded by a school model for pupils to learn by memory rather than by heart. Like a robot. My kindergarten son is repetitively writing the alphabet each night over and over again. He thinks that it is a waste of time since at his age, 5, he learned how to read from us, his family at home. His level of learning is advanced, but has to go with the flow of the rest of the kids in his class whom some are barely starting their school education. He went through two years of preschool since his birthday landed on the month of November. I don't blame the teachers on having to deal with a 5 yr old that asks her " why do I have to do this?" or " I already know how!" The school system goes by age. I think that the educational system has to come up with a new system for all the students that have potential to learn faster than the other kids rather than by age.
